Farming

Farming in Loftia

Garden beds, water, permits, beta crop values and the Early Access hydroponics plan.

The short version

Farming is confirmed. The demo gives you garden beds and a watering can; Early Access adds hydroponics stations that can produce Super Crops. The crop values below are beta data, not launch values.

What is confirmed

  • Farming is a core activity: the Steam page lists hydroponics, aquaponics and trellis farming.
  • Tools use renewable energy generated from sun, wind and rain.
  • Early Access adds Sustainable Farming, starting with Hydroponics Stations.
  • Hydroponics stations must be kept topped up with nutrients for a chance to produce Super Crops.
  • Farming is a proficiency; the demo caps proficiencies at Level 5.

The demo loop

Your plot has garden beds, a storage chest and a shipping bin. Seeds come from Hazel. Amani sells permits for extra garden beds, trellises, tree plots, energy stations and processing stations. Water crops with the Watering Can or let rain do it; dry soil stalls growth. Harvest, then sell raw or cook the crop first.

The demo’s carrot is the clearest early loop: a seed costs 10 Dew, the crop takes about 10 minutes, and it sells for 20 Dew in beta data. Lettuce is the cheaper start (5 Dew seed, 10 Dew sale). The demo shows sale values in Hazel’s shop; the beta shop did not.

Crop values we can source

Early Access may rebalance these. We will not present them as current launch prices.

Water, soil and rain

Dry soil stalls crops, so the Watering Can is not optional. Rain waters automatically. A water station placed by your crops is refilled by rain, gives unlimited can refills, and a neighbor’s station never runs dry. That makes a water station one of the best early placements on a shared plot.

Crops grow on real-time timers, not play time. Start a batch before you log off; a six-hour pineapple is doing its work while you are away.

Permits and scale

Amani’s permits cap how many beds, trellises, tree plots, energy stations, processing stations and placeables you can own. These are the beta costs:

The guide recommends the first garden-bed upgrade (40) and a second energy station (200). Values may change at Early Access.

Hydroponics in Early Access

The official Early Access page is specific about the first step: Hydroponics Stations, kept topped up with nutrients, with a chance to grow Super Crops. It does not publish nutrient rates, Super Crop odds, station costs or a complete crop list.

A community wiki reports that the April 2026 beta had five farming categories — garden plots, trellises, trees, bee hives and flowers — and that player-owned hydroponics was planned for Early Access, with aquaponics later. Treat the rollout order as community-reported, not a promise.

What we are not publishing

Exact nutrient consumption, Super Crop drop rates, aquaponics launch status, the full crop list and Early Access prices are not verified. Any calculator built on those numbers would be fiction, so the Dew calculator is locked.

Community Farm

The Hanging Gardens has community farms. A beta-era guide describes an hourly event: a server message five minutes before the hour, sign-up with Arlo, up to 10 players, four event slots and a board requesting one of eight crops. Rewards include Dew, skill points, seeds and clothing fragments; team ranks run from F (under 50 points) to S (400+ points).

The demo ends just before you reach the Hanging Gardens, so this is Early Access content. The 10-player figure and the rank thresholds are beta data, not official launch details.

Sources and checks

Checked 2026-10-23. Factual claims are drawn from the sources below; demo and beta values are labelled because they may change at Early Access. Recommendations are ours.

Official farming features; beta crop and permit values labelled; demo loop from a 21 Oct 2026 community guide.

We do not publish a recipe, price, stat or mechanic without a source. If something is missing, it is marked unverified rather than guessed.
